The Italian Youth Choir Captivates Audiences in Aquileia and Venzone

Two outstanding performances took place in Aquileia and Venzone during the Friulian tour of the Italian Youth Choir, conducted by Filippo Maria Bressan, assisted by Matteo Valbusa, at the invitation of the Polifonico. The fresh and carefully selected young Italian voices impressed audiences not only with their quality, but also with their ability to tackle a demanding repertoire—including works by Allegri, Bach, Lang, Jennefelt, Whitacre, Lo Pinto, and Mahler—that few choirs worldwide are able to perform at such a level. With his customary elegance, Bressan guided the choir through the demanding terrain of each individual work, also showcasing several soloists who further enriched the two evenings. The concerts were also valuable for the regional choral community, offering an opportunity to appreciate the amount of work and the distance still separating us from excellence. In Venzone, the Italian “voices” met their Lithuanian “colleagues”, who performed works by Miškinis, Copi, Alekna, Augustin, and Čiurlionis. The final joint performance was particularly well received and also served as a tribute marking the fiftieth anniversary of the 1976 earthquake: a splendid Stelutis Alpinis in the arrangement by Zuccante.
