On the occasion of the events dedicated to the “Fieste de Patrie dal Friûl” on Sunday 6 April at 9:35, Rai 3 will broadcast the second scene of the opera Genesi, an original project by the Coro Polifonico di Ruda dedicated to the three UNESCO cities of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, by Renato Miani and texts by Angelo Floramo.
Dedicated to the city of Cividale and the female figure of Duchess Romilda, the historical context of the second scene of Genesis features Gisulfo II – descendant of the Alboino family – Duke of Friuli from 590 to 610 who rebelled against King Agilulf and was punished for this. The Avars, then allies of the Lombards, were called to suppress the duke's revolt and the invasion was the most terrible thing imaginable. Cividale was besieged and destroyed, like other centers of Friuli. A devastation mixed with brutal events such as the killing of Duchess Romilda, impaled just outside the city walls. It took decades for Cividale and its territory to return to their previous splendor.
In addition to the Coro Polifonico di Ruda directed by Fabiana Noro, the pianists Matteo Andri and Ferdinando Mussutto, the voice of Elsa Martin and the actress Aida Talliente will also be protagonists. Directed by Marco Fabbro.
