On Friday 28 March, the recording of the third and final scene of the opera “Genesi” by Renato Miani with lyrics by Angelo Floramo began in the Hall of Honour of the Municipality of Palmanova.
The choir, together with pianists Matteo Andri and Ferdinando Mussutto and actress Aida Talliente, created the first part of the scene dedicated to the star-shaped city contextualised in two historical periods with different protagonists. The first section narrates the conflict between the Serenissima and the Habsburg Empire in which the music develops on two levels, underlining and highlighting the souls of these two opposing cultures which, despite the background of military music, show a popular nature in the singing of the soldiers serving Venice, contrasted with that of the Austrian soldiers with greater rigor.
The next section introduces the sad story of Princess Fatma of Bosnia, betrothed to Sultan Ahmet II, who was kidnapped by the Venetians and taken prisoner to the fortress city of Palma.
A heartfelt thanks to the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Palmanova and to the Regional Council for their support in the realization of this project.
