Music and solidarity: this is the combination at the heart of the traditional New Year's Eve concert of the Coro Polifonico di Ruda scheduled for Saturday 21 December in the parish church of Santo Stefano in the Bassa village starting at 8:30 pm. The donations collected during the evening will be donated to the Association "OVCI La nostra Famiglia" whose humanitarian objectives will be illustrated at the beginning of the concert by the general director of the association, Alessandro Giardina.
The concert - directed by Fabiana Noro - will be ideally divided into three parts: in the first part, Christmas-themed music will be proposed (Biebl, Lauridsen, Zanettovich), while in the second part, the Polifonico will present some pieces from the great German romantic tradition (Schumann, Bruckner, Hauptmann). Finally, the third part – after an engaging instrumental interlude (The gladiator by Hans Zimmer) will be a sort of meditation or rather an invocation for peace seriously put in crisis by the world events of recent years (Rachel, Piovani, Sollima, Cohen). The choir will be accompanied by pianist Ferdinando Mussutto, cellist Antonio Merici and percussionist Gabriele Rampogna.
It will not be the choir's last concert of 2024. In fact, the Polifonico will then be busy on Monday 23 December in Udine at the commemoration for the 26th anniversary of the massacre on Christmas Eve 1998, while on Friday 27 December it will be on stage in the parish church of Pozzuolo del Friuli in a concert desired and organized by the municipal administration.
