It will be in the region for the first time: we are talking about the Luigi Cherubini youth orchestra, founded in 2004 by Riccardo Muti, made up of young instrumentalists, all under thirty, coming from every Italian region, selected through hundreds of auditions by a commission established from the first parts of prestigious European orchestras and presided over by Muti himself.
He will play in the basilica of Aquileia on Saturday 16 September, starting at 8.45pm for a concert that already promises to be sold out. It will be the worthy conclusion of the 'Concerts in the basilica', organized by Socoba in collaboration with the Ruda Polyphonic Choir, under the artistic direction of Pier Paolo Gratton, which recorded truly extraordinary popular participation.
In Aquileia the Cherubini orchestra will be directed by Giovanni Sollima, a well-known composer and extraordinary cellist who has already brought the prestigious ensemble to the main Italian and foreign stages. In Aquileia the orchestra will propose an eclectic program: alongside Concerto n. 1 for cello and orchestra in C major by Franz Joseph Haydn, the ensemble will perform two compositions by Sollima himself: The N-Ice cello Concerto (2021) and When we were trees for 2 cellos and orchestra from 2008.
In this, cellist Ilario Fantone will accompany Sollima.
