The USCI Friuli Venezia Giulia has published on YouTube the concert commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of the 1976 Friuli earthquake, recorded at the Duomo di Venzone on 3 May and conducted by Giuliano Medeossi. The performers included the Piccolo Coro Artemia of Torviscosa, conducted by Denis Monte; the Coro Polifonico di Ruda, conducted by Fabiana Noro; the Orchestra dei Filarmonici Friulani; and actor Francesco Pannofino. We leave all commentary to the listener. For our part, we can only express our gratitude to the composer Gianmartino Durighello, the curator of the texts Renato Stroili Gurisatti, the orchestra, Maestro Medeossi, and above all Francesco Pannofino, who guided the ensembles through the musical journey with engaging readings by regional authors.
A new and innovative oratorio, it perhaps succeeded more than any other production in capturing the spirit of this fiftieth anniversary—an occasion that has often resulted only in simple revivals or the re-presentation of older concerts.
