The Caserma Piave in Palmanova—a center of anti-partisan repression during 1944–1945—is set to become the Regional Museum of the Resistance.
On 2 June, the ANPI Udine paid tribute to the victims of the “Borsatti gang” with a commemorative event featuring the Coro Polifonico di Ruda together with pianist Ferdinando Mussutto, cellist Chiara Trentin, and percussionist Gabriele Rampogna.
The choir accompanied readings by Alberto Prelli and Rossana Di Tommaso with works by Pau Casals, Daniele Zanettovich, and Giovanni Sollima. The texts described the suffering endured by the wives and mothers of the Friulian “desaparecidos,” swallowed up by what has been described as one of the most disturbing slaughterhouses of the World War II.
Due to bad weather, the concert-event took place at the Napoleonic powder magazine in Palmanova. Despite the change of venue, the public turned out in strong numbers for an event of significant historical, artistic, and human value.
