There was tremendous success at the Basilica di Aquileia for the oratorio by Gianmartino Durighello dedicated to the fiftieth anniversary of the 1976 Friuli earthquake. In a packed basilica, Giuliano Medeossi masterfully conducted the Piccolo Coro Artemia of Torviscosa, the Coro Polifonico di Ruda, and the Orchestra Giovanile Filarmonici Friulani, giving each intervention the emotional intensity required by the texts selected by Renato Stroili. The readings by Giovanni Nistri further enhanced the emotional impact of the oratorio, conceived not to “celebrate,” but to “honor” the thousand victims of the earthquake five decades after their passing. At the end, a long and thoroughly deserved applause sealed a truly unforgettable evening.
